SRFOL -- Seed Library

A Seed Library is a repository that shares seeds—for vegetables. flowers, and other garden plants—with the public, free of charge.

Established by Sustainable Scripps Ranch (SSR), with donations obtained from seed companies, sponsored by the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL), and managed by the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library staff, the Scripps Miramar Seed Library is available to all members of our community. No library card is needed to make use of the Seed Library. Seed recipients are encouraged to save some seeds from their (hopefully) bountiful harvests to bring back to the Seed Library to help keep it going strong. You are asked to provide the species name of all seeds which you return and state that your seeds are organic. Optionally, you may also donate funds to the SRFOL for the exclusive support of the Seed Library (including the purchase of additional seeds).

The Scripps Miramar Seed Library may be accessed in person at the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library whenever the library is open. Alternatively or when the library is closed, seeds may be requested by email (seedlibrary@srfol.org). When the library is open, please visit the Scripps Ranch Library to pick up your seeds. When the library is closed for extended periods of time, pickup may be arranged via the same email address.

In order to make access to the Seed Library fair to everyone, there are a few rules we ask patrons to follow:

Each household is limited to one (1) set of seeds per request (a set is 6 seeds of a specific species).
Seed requests are limited to one request per household every two weeks (due to limited inventory).
Please provide up to 4 alternate seed choices in priority order (most preferred choice listed first).
Our supply of seeds is limited; we will provide what we can when we can.
If we run low on seeds or if we get backlogged with requests, we may suspend the Seed Library service and announce future availability when it occurs.

Consult the inventory list below for the seeds you would like! Please select your preferred seed choice and at least one (preferably three) alternate choices in case we are out of your preferred choice.
When the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library is open, simply bring your list to the library and select your desired seeds from the Seed Library.
During the time the library is closed for construction, send an email to (seedlibrary@srfol.org) with your list of preferred and alternate seed choices. You'll receive information by return email regarding where to pickup your requested seeds.
During times when the library is open for regularly scheduled service, just come to the Scripps Ranch Library to pick up your seeds. We will hold your fulfilled seed package for 3 business days for pick-up, after which the seeds will be returned to the seed library inventory in order to fulfill other patrons' requests.
