The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL) exists to support the operation of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center. The SRFOL, through volunteer services, assists library patrons, hosts special events, operates a used bookstore (Grace's Book Nook), and provides financial support for acquisitions and library programs.

The SRFOL is a strictly all-volunteer organization. No volunteer gets paid to volunteer. Every dollar of the funds raised by the SRFOL is used to support the operation of the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center for the benefit of library patrons like you and your family. Not only that, SRFOL takes advantage of the opportunity to access matching funds through the City of San Diego; to the greatest degree possible, every dollar raised by the SRFOL is matched—dollar for dollar—by the City of San Diego. So every dollar that the SRFOL raises through fundraising activities like book sales in Grace's Book Nook, special events, and donations potentially yields two dollars for the SRFOL and our Library, funding the purchase of library materials and library events and providing equipment and amenities for our library not covered by the City budget.

To top it off, since the SRFOL is an officially chartered, §501(c)(3) non-profit, educational organization, all donations made to the SRFOL are fully tax-deductible for the donors to the extent allowed under Internal Revenue Service tax regulations.

So, what has the SRFOL actually done in recent years to support the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center? Here are just a few of the things which the SRFOL has funded with your purchases and donations:

• Over half of all new library material acquisitions (books, CDs, and DVDs) are made possible by the SRFOL every year.
• All "express books" (in demand new books) are made possible by the SRFOL.
• The SRFOL helps fund the purchase of electronic library resources such as eBooks and eAudiobooks.
• Children and teen programs, including story hours, performers, the Summer Reading Program, and the Teen Council are sponsored by the SRFOL.
• The SRFOL paid for the purchase of the library's 3D printer and ongoing operational supplies.
• Adult programs, including the "Pleasure of Your Company" concert series, OASIS classes, and numerous special programs and events are funded by the SRFOL.
• The Book Discussion Group is sponsored by SRFOL.
• The SRFOL paid for the reupholstering of all of the reading chairs in the library.
• New library furniture has been funded by the SRFOL.
• Needed library equipment and supplies have been paid for by the SRFOL.
• The purchase and installation of new carpeting in the library's Community Room was paid for by the SRFOL with the support of the Scripps Ranch Civic Association.
• The SRFOL funded the purchase and installation of new window coverings in the library's Community Room.
• The enhancement of the library's courtyard is currently being funded by the SRFOL.
• The SRFOL has been instrumental in increasing and preserving library hours and advocating for increased City funding for library books, materials, and programs.
