![]() The Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library (SRFOL) is an auxiliary organization created to support the Scripps Miramar Ranch branch of the San Diego Public Library. To this end the SRFOL generates income through donations, fundraising efforts, and the selling of used books. More than 85% of the income generated by the SRFOL each year is spent directly on items or activities to benefit the library, including: • Contributions to the San Diego Public Library Matching Book Fund to enhance the collection • Contributions to the San Diego Public Library Matching Equipment Fund to supply the library with large equipment • Direct contributions to the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library to replace small equipment and to purchase necessary supplies not covered by the city budget • Support of the monthly children's programs • Support of "The Pleasure of Your Company," a monthly series of classical music concerts • Support of special events such as the essay writing contest for the public schools sponsored annually by the San Diego Public Library, the annual library birthday party, and the annual float for the Fourth of July parade • Support of the Summer Reading Program for young readers • Support of Grace's Book Nook, the Friends' used bookstore, making inexpensive, high quality books available to users of the library and teachers throughout San Diego County All financial support from the Scripps Ranch Friends of the Library is designed to encourage use of the library, to encourage young people to read, and to enhance and maintain the Scripps Miramar Ranch Library Center. |
