The San Diego Public Library, with financial support from the Friends of the San Diego Public Library, offers a wide variety of online electronic resources to its patrons, free of charge. All you need to access these resources are a computer or portable electronic tablet (eReader), an Internet connection, and a library card. Electronic resources are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even when the library buildings are closed.

Downloadable items are compatible with most eBook devices and Smartphones. While the San Diego Public Library strives to provide high quality customer support for its eCollection services (including cloudLibrary and RBdigital), the wide variety of computer operating systems and configurations of personal computers make it impossible for the library to guarantee that all eCollection-related software will run on all electronic devices. Library staff can provide assistance with installing and navigating eCollection software.

Online Bookclubs

Interested in exploring classic literature? Several of our branch libraries are hosting online book clubs (https://www.sandiego.gov/bookclubs). Get more information by going to www.sandiego.gov/bookclubs. Our Scripps Ranch Branch Manager, Trevor Jones, is leading The BucketList Book Club, a low pressure online book group where readers are encouraged to take on books they've always meant to read but never got around to. To join The BucketList Book Club, sign up on our library's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/SDPLbucketlist/. For those who do not or choose not to use Facebook, don't fret, we are working on more online platforms to reach out to the public and should have more news on that soon.

Children and families are invited to join the SDPL Stay-In Storytime Club on Facebook for access to Chapter-a-Day, Bilingual, and Bedtime Storytime videos plus music, crafts, and much, much more! Our own Scripps Ranch Youth Services Librarian, Melissa Giffen, is one of the librarians leading these fun storytimes and recently hosted her first Facebook Live Storytime!
